This four story building is part of a vast campus of psychiatric facilities operated by the State of New York Office of Mental Health. The humanization program of this facility required the complete gut renovation and modernization of this existing building. The facility of 240,000 square feet houses 340 beds and the estimated upgrades were estimated at time of completion in the neighborhood of $35M.

This new six story building is a prototype for inner city treatment centers for the New York State Office of Substance and Alcohol Abuse. This facility is equipped to service 125 male and female residents enrolled in the substance abuse program which also provides 25 beds for domestic abuse victims. This facility will services the Kingsboro area of Brooklyn providing treatment and counseling rooms located on the living/sleeping floors for convenient access throughout the day and into the evening, integrating the treatment program with daily living activities.

Rehabilitation and renovation of the clinical laboratories at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Completed in 1995 this project for the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation involved the reconstruction of approximately 40,000 square feet. This work was completed without any down time of the existing departments. We were responsible for all phases of this project from planning and programming through construction administration. During the planning phase it was determined that the expanded laboratory requirements could be met within the confines of the existing building. Careful review of existing facilities provided us with suitable location and permitted construction to proceed with minimal disturbances to the existing laboratory function. The new facilities were completed ahead of schedule and within the assigned budget.

Kings Park Psychiatric Center, Building 21

This project required renovation and expansion of the existing facility at Kings Park Psychiatric Center, Building 21 in Kings Park, NY. Work involved a $65M, 405 bed, 220,000 SF renovation and 60,000 square feet of new construction for its geriatric population.

The renovation work involved complete removal of all interior partitions to permit new ward configurations. Sleeping areas were created with single and double bed configurations with direct access to adjacent bathrooms. Three major additions were constructed to provide large open space for patient education, recreation and developmental training areas. Additional special features added to this building were four new conveyance elevators to improve the buildings overall circulation, and three new secure outdoor recreation areas directly available from the new elevator cores and patient wards.
